Pete Meyers and Eric Hedekar from Moz said Google is now showing medical related featured snippets about 2.5 times more often in the desktop search results. It makes sense because more and more people are asking me if these medical search results are new, and the answer is no – but I guess they are showing to more people more often for more queries.
Pete posted this on Twitter saying “Seeing a major spike (about 2.5X in MozCast) of Featured Snippets on healthcare terms at the end of January, including terms that already have Medical Knowledge Panels.” That is interesting because Google has a lot of medical knowledge panels with potentially better information for searchers around medical conditions.
These panels look like this:
Glenn Gabe said with this, he also noticed a big change to how much information Google is showing on mobile around these queries, ultimately pushing down a lot of the search results even more.
Whoa, I see what you are referring to on desktop. But, mobile *doesn’t* show the featured snippet… And mobile now breaks out symptoms and treatments into *separate listings* below the medical panel. That’s new, I believe, & pushes the first organic listing way down the page: pic.twitter.com/eXZXSSrrdI

I am not sure if the spike in featured snippets for medical queries is on purpose or not. But if you run a medical related site, it may impact you.
